I’ve lived in Boise my whole life, but in April 2021, a visit to a little seafood spot tucked in a strip mall changed everything. My wife and I met founder David Bassiri, who had turned a fish market into a restaurant back in 1996. After 25 years, he was ready to retire — and two weeks later, I was the new owner of Fresh Off the Hook Seafood.
I promised David I wouldn’t change the menu or the experience our regulars love. Come check out our “Wall of Fame,” enjoy Idaho’s best seafood, and see why so many people get hooked after just one visit.

I’ve been at Fresh Off the Hook since 2016 — longer than the owner! Whether I’ve served you as a new guest or as one of our regulars, I hope I’ve made a lasting impression. A few days a week, you’ll also find me in the kitchen as Head Cook, creating daily specials I hope will “hook” you into coming back.
Outside of work, I’m chasing my two wild toddlers, dogs, and cat, or taking my girls fishing and camping (if they can get dirty, they’re happy). If you see me in the restaurant, don’t be shy — just say, “Hi, Ali.”

If you take care of the staff, then the food and service will always take care of itself. It helps of course to already have an award winning menu that has not changed in almost 30 years! I appreciate my staff, I enjoy this restaurant, I love this community, and our customers can tell.”
